Nothing of value comes without hard work!

Philosophy

As music educators in the North Arlington Public Schools, it is our goal to contribute to the cultural enrichment of the students in the fine and performing arts with particular emphasis on the discipline of music.

This is achieved through teaching general appreciation in the classroom and though actual performance in the vocal and instrumental mediums.

It is the intent of the teaching staff of the Music Department to widen the aesthetic experiences of the students, parents, and the community through attaining both these primary and secondary goals.

Highlights

The Viking Marching Band did an fantastic job in the Belleville-Nutley Columbus Day Parade. This was the first non-town parade the ensemble performed in and they were very well received as well as honored for their great sound.

This year's Music Department's Trip was to Florida. We are headed back to the "House of Mouse!" The Band participated in a "Instrumentally Yours" Workshop in a real Disney sound stage with a professional Disney recording engineer, arranger, and clinician. In this 3 1/2 hour workshop, they explored the requirements for becoming a professional recording musician through interactive participation. They explored essential professional skills like advanced sight reading and musicianship as well as recording music after only one reading. Their final task was to play a section of the music from the movie "Aladdin" with the actual Disney animation.

The next day the Band performed on the World Stage in Downtown Disney to a very large and responsive audience. Their performance lived up to the "Magic", they were deemed official "Disney Cast Members" and recieved an award for their outstanding performance.

The rest of the trip entailed having a "Magical Day" in the wonder of Disney World.

Our Deepest thanks to the Booster Club for their generous donation and inclusion in this years football program.
